A beautiful sunny day in Las Vegas, NV, ummmm really when is it not? My boyfriend is in town and we decide to head over to the Stratosphere hotel and casino for a few hours. He is a sports guy and loves to sit at the bars and gamble some on the poker machines and watch games. Why not, right? I mean if you drink for free while gambling and end up winning some money all the better.

Stratosphere is actually one of the older hotels, but I like it. Always have a good time there and usually do come out ahead, which this time around, as my boyfriend sits at the bar, I walk around trying different slot machines and sure enough win a little. Woohoo. By this time we are getting a little hungry, so I suggest going up to The top of the world restaurant for lunch. 800 feet high in the sky above the Las Vegas valley. He has never been and for those of you who haven’t, it is something you need to try out. The view is amazing and continually changes very slowly. Eventually if you are there long enough you see 360 of Las Vegas while enjoying your meal. Not bad I would say.

The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, so we got right in and ordered up some cocktails. Bread basket is delivered to our table and today I couldn’t resist. The view is spectacular by the way and today of all days absolutely nothing in the air. Clean as can be, which makes the view even better. The top of the world restaurant is considered a fine dining establishment with prices to match. An amazing culinary menu and long wine list, with items like Lamb Kofte, Wagyu steak, Kale salad, Lobster, or you can enjoy a 3 course prix fixe menu, or a tasting menu in the evenings. So plan on savoring every bite from this award winning restaurant.
We decide to go with oysters, Market price, to start and oh my god, can I tell you, they are probably some of the best oysters we had ever had. So much so that we ordered another round. Served just as they should be on ice, with some lemon, cocktail sauce, tabasco and fresh as can be. I will apologize for the picture as we were so excited to try them out I forgot to snap it before we dug in. Ooops my bad.

Afterwards we headed to the outside deck to watch all the adventurous types try the high in the sky rides, which includes bungee jumping off this building. I mean really? No thanks, but was very fun to watch and took my breath away just doing that.
Anyone who wants to visit, don’t worry about dress as lunch is casual and usually can get right in, but for a perfect romantic dinner I would suggest going around sunset, business casual attire. Catch the valley as the sun goes down and enjoy the best of both worlds and views and hopefully you will get past the oysters and onto something else to try. The top of the world opens at 11 am and closes at 11 pm daily. This trip we never did. Bon Appetit.
