Quick Thanksgiving dessert, mmmm, scrumptious

Ok, so sometimes the quickest is the best.  I mean really! Slaving enough over cooking Thanksgiving dinner, lets make dessert simple, quick and easy, but still create that being home, warm, oooie-gooie goodness that brings all kinds of smiles to our faces and a nice sigh as those good feeling endorphin’s kick in. Comfort food right? Well this month I am going to bring you all kinds of different ideas to do just that, so keep checking back for mouthwatering ideas and I will apologize now if your pants are getting a little too tight by months end.  This recipe is warm, sweet, cold and easy, so enjoy.

Hot cinnamon apples ala mode

Ingredients:

2 pints vanilla ice cream

1/3 cup rum or you can substitute 1/2 cup maple syrup but why would you?

3/4 cup sugar

4 tablespoons butter, melted use the real stuff here for full flavor

1/3cup fresh lemon juice, this is too easy use real lemons lol

6 sweet apples, such as Rome, Gala, Empires, peeled, cored, and cut into 8 to 10 wedges

Turn on broiler. Toss the apples with the lemon juice and butter and sugar, save 2 tablespoons of the sugar.  Arrange on a baking sheet in a single layer.

Broil apples for 8 to 10 minutes or until tender. Sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar and broil until melted.

  • while broiling heat rum or maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Serve the apples warm with vanilla ice cream. Drizzle with the warm rum or syrup.
